NARAYANGANJ: Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and three others were hit in the heads before strangulating to death with rope. This was disclosed in the post-mortem report of five of the victims.
Dr Asaduzzaman Miah, resident medical officer of Narayanganj General Hospital and the head of the three-member autopsy board, submitted the post-mortem reports of Nazrul, Chandan, Moniruzzaman Swapan, Tajul Islam and Ibrahim to the district Civil Surgeon Dr Dulal Chandra Chowdhury Wednesday noon, according to a news agency.
Talking to reporters at his office, the civil surgeon said all the victims were murdered in the same style. “They were first hit in the heads and then strangled with rope.”
Holes were pierced beneath the navels of all the victims so that their bodies did not float after dumping in the river, he said, adding that there were also marks of injury on their chests.
Stating that performing autopsy on the victims began around 5:30pm on April 30, the civil surgeon said the victims were killed some 48-72 hours before start of the post-mortem. “It seems from the murder style that the killers were professional, skilled and trained. It was not possible for any individual to carry out the murders.”
Meanwhile, police recovered three more firearms, whose licences were revoked earlier, from the houses of three associates of Nur Hossain Wednesday.
