Nasim blames Khaleda Zia for destabilising country

NAOGAON, Dec 24 (agencies): Awami League (AL) presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Wednesday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been hatching conspiracies to destabilise the country in a bid to save the war criminals.
The BNP's politics is aimed at returning Bangladesh into Pakistani style by creating anarchy across the country, she said while addressing the triennial conference of district Awami League at Naojoyan field here as the chief guest.
Presided over by district AL president AKM Fazley Rabbi, AL leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapan, Jute and Textile Minister Imaj Uddin Pramanik, State Minister for Jute and Textiles Mirza Azam, State Minister for ICT Junayed Ahmed Palak, Col (rtd) Faruk Khan, Abdur Rahman, Khairuzzaman Liton, Sujit Roy Nandi and S M Kamal Hossain, among others, addressed the function.
Referring to January 5 general election, Mohammad Nasim said martial law could have been promulgated in the country if the election was not held in time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had protected democracy by holding the election, he added.
Nasim said the next general election would be held in 2019 as per the Constitution and in the election the democracy loving people of the country would cast their votes for AL to bring the party to power for the third time for the sake of democracy.
Referring to BNP's threat of launching anti-government movement, he said the AL is not scared of any threat of BNP.
Earlier, Mohammad Nasim opened the council this afternoon by hoisting the national flag. Around 30,000 leaders and workers of 11 upazilas of the district and its adjoining areas joined the council.
