Tuesday, 9 September 2014

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim warned Monday against any 'negative' political programme during the 32nd summit of 11 South Asian member countries of WHO, scheduled to be held in Dhaka on September 9-12, reports UNB.
"Bangladesh is the host of the 32nd summit of 11 countries of WHO's South-East Asia Region this year. Eleven health ministers of these countries are going to join the summit. It's a matter of our image," the minister told a press conference at a city hotel.
The ministers of health will discuss ways to address vector-borne diseases and are expected to adopt the "Dhaka Declaration" on this issue.
WHO Director General Margaret Chan will also attend the summit.
WHO's South-East Asia Region comprises the following 11 Member States: Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, the Maldives, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Timor-Leste and South Korea.
