Nasir Chy new CSE president

Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury has been elected the new president of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) for the year 2008.
Chowdhury was elected in a meeting of the CSE board Thursday, held in Chittagong, said a press release.
Fakhor Uddin Ali Ahmed, Al Maruf Khan and AQI Chowdhury were elected vice presidents.
Earlier, the second stock exchange of the country held its 12th annual general meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury urged the finance ministry to offload government- owned shares to meet the growing demand of investors.
He further said the CSE would continue its expansion across Bangladesh to spur investment activities.
The CSE President distributed awards to top five CSE brokers for their outstanding trade performance in the year that ended on December 31, 2006. LankaBangla Securities Ltd. ranked first, ICB Securities Trading Company Ltd second, International Securities Company Ltd. third, Salta Capital Ltd fourth and Royal Capital Ltd. fifth.
The AGM approved the audited accounts for the year 2006 and re-appointed Rahman Rahman Huq the auditor of the bourse for the next year.
Earlier, there was election in CSE for electing four directors in the new Board. Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Mohammad Fakhruddin and Bijan Chakroborty were elected new directors of the bourse for the term 2008-2010.
The members also discussed the annual accounts of the Exchange and appreciated the activities of the previous board.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks by CSE's new president.
