Nasir takes Bangladesh A to victory

Nasir Hossain’s brilliant all-round performance with an unbeaten century and five for helped Bangladesh ‘A’ cricket team to notch a 65-run victory over India ‘A’ team in the 2nd one-day match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, leveling the three-match unofficial one-day international series 1-1.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh scored a fighting total of 252 for 8 in 50 overs riding on Nasir Hossain’s unbeaten century of 102 runs off 96 balls involving 12 fours and one six, a UNB report said.
Nasir, who knocked unbeaten hundred to complete his 3rd century in List A one-day match, came to crease in the 19th overs of the match when scoreboard showing for Bangladesh 82 for 5 wickets.
Later, Nasir grabbed five wickets for 36 runs in 10 overs, including the wickets of Unmukt Chand and Suresh Raina in the end to make the win comfortable.
On his way to century, Nasir pairing with Liton Kumar Das contributed 70 runs in 15.1 overs in the 6th wicket sand, and partnered with Arafat Sunny for 50 runs in 9.1 overs in the 7th wicket stand.
In the end Nasir and pacer Rubel Hossain contributed 40 runs in 4.5 overs in the 9th wickets stand.
Number five Liton Kumar Das scored 45 runs off 57 balls with six fours while Anamul Haque added 34 off 53 with three fours and a six. Opener Soumya Sarkar scored a 24-run off 30 balls with five fours.
Rishi Dhawan grabbed three wickets for 44 runs while Karn Sharma took two wickets for 40 runs, both bowled 10 overs each.
India A chased their target, but were restricted at 187 runs in 42.2 overs.
Skipper Unmukt Chand scored team highest 56 runs off 745 balls with seven fours while Manish Pandy (36 off 70b, 2x4), Gurkeerat Singh (34 off 30b, 4x4, 1x6), Maynak Agarwal (24 off 27b, 4x4) and Suresh Raina (17 off 21b, 1x6) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Apart from Nasir’s five for, pacer Rubel also bagged four wickets conceding 33 runs in 9 overs to make smoother the victory for the side.
