Bangladesh awaits the creation of a new history. The nation is poised to be part of a new history today as tens of thousands of people has been congregating on the National Parade Square since morning to create yet another history on the occasion of Independence and National Day. Millions of people will witness the creation of the history when ‘Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla’ (Sonar Bangla in lakhs of voices) would be sung by 300,000 people around 11:00am, to enter Bangladesh’s name into the Guinness Book of World Records. On May 6 last year, the Sahara India Pariwar had set a record in the Guinness Book by arranging the singing of the Indian national anthem by 121,653 people. The Bangladehis are just a few minutes away from surpassing that feat by getting a far larger body of people to sing the Bangladesh national anthem: “Amar Sonar Bangla Ami Tomai Bhalobashi (My Golden Bengal, I Love You)”, according to a news agency.
