National A Chess begins today

The 40th Berger Paints National A Chess Championship, being organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation, will begin today (Saturday) at the Bangladesh Olympic Association in the city, reports UNB.
The first round matches will begin at the BOA Media Centre at 2:30 pm.
In the first round matches, GM Zia will play against defending champion GM Rakib while Sohel face GM Razib, FM Amin meet Uten, Mostafa take on FM Nasir, FM Debaraj encounter CM Robin, IM Sagar meet Masum and FM Reza fight against GM Niaz.
A total of 14 players, including one international master and four grandmasters, will take part in the tournament.
The players number are GM Ziaur Rahman, CM Sohel Chowdhury, FM Khandaker Aminul Islam, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, FM Debraj Chatterjee, IM Minhajuddin Ahmed, FM Rezaul Haque, GM Niaz Murshed, Masum Hossain, CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed Robin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, Uten, GM Enamul Hossain Rajib and GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation Gazi Shayiful Tarique disclosed the details at a press briefing at the BOA Media Centre on Friday.
Brand manager of the sponsor organisation Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd Kazi Mofrad Muntasir also spoke on the occasion.
