National Bank approves 52pc stock dividend

The 26th annual general meeting of National Bank Limited (NBL) was held at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Wednesday. NBL Chairman Moazzam Hossain presided over the meeting. More than five thousand shareholders attended the meeting.
They approved 52 per cent bonus shares for the year ended December 31, 2008, says a press release.
The chairman, in his inaugural speech, said that the bank achieved a remarkable success in the year 2008 because of timely implementation of appropriate measures and directives of the board of directors, good advices of shareholders and concerted efforts of the bank's employees of all level.
The earning per share (EPS) stood at Tk 81.03 in the year 2008 while the EPS for the year 2007 was Tk 66.11 despite 55 per cent increase of paid-up capital of the bank, he added.
Directors Zainul Haque Sikder, Parveen Haque Sikder, Mahbub Ahmed, Zakaria Taher, Md Azizul Ashraf, AKM Enamul Hoque, Abu Sayeed Monir, Mabroor Hossain and Nur Mohammad Howlader and Managing Director Md Abdur Rahman Sarker and Secretary to the Board A K M Shafiqur Rahman were also present at the meeting.
