National cricketers given two weeks rest

Friday, 28 June 2024

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) gave the national players a two-week rest after their disastrous T20 World Cup campaign, reports BSS.
The cricketers are now on the way to the country and expected to land in Dhaka at 08:00 am today (Friday). However two cricketers --Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das -- would return to the country tomorrow (Saturday), an official of BCB informed.
The coaching staff of the team also would go on a long holiday. They will go back to their respective country from Dubai, instead of returning to Bangladesh with the players.
All of the coaching staff will come back to join national team on July 19.
The Bangladeshi players, meanwhile, will join the ongoing Tigers camp in Chattogram after their two-week long rest.
Most of the players who are in consideration for Test team are in Tigers camp now to continue their training when the national team was busy in playing the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh will play eight Test matches from August to December. Firstly, they will tour Pakistan in August for two Tests before visiting India in September-October, also for same number of Test matches. South Africa will tour Bangladesh for two Test matches in October-November and thereafter Bangladesh will end their hectic schedule with a full tour to West Indies in November-December.
To get the players fit adequately for grueling Test journey, the BCB has been conducting the training session silently with the Test specialists.
In T20 World Cup, Bangladesh played seven matches. In the group phase, they won three out of four but lost all of the three matches in Super 8
