National Legal Aid Day observed in Pabna

PABNA, Apr 28: The National Legal Aid Day was observed here in a befitting manner Monday.
The programme of the day included rally and discussion meeting organised jointly by district Legal Aid Committee, district administration and other organisations.
To mark the day, a rally to create mass awareness about free legal assistance, was brought out from the premises of district Judges Court in the town.
District judges, administrative officials, police, lawyers, journalists and NGO workers participated in the rally with banners and placards.
Chairman of the district Legal Aid Committee and district and sessions judge M. Hasan Imam presented the keynote paper on main theme of the day "Gariber Mamlar Bhar- Bohan Kore Sarkar" in a discussion meeting held at the judge court premises.
The chairman said during the last year (2013) a number of poor people were provided free legal assistance in 61 cases here.
At present 715 cases supported by district legal aid committee are pending in different courts of the district, he added.
