National Tea approves 20pc dividend

National Tea Company Limited (NTCL) has approved a dividend of Tk 20.00 per share of Tk 100.00 for its shareholders for the year 2006.
The dividend was approved in the company's 29th annual general meeting (AGM) held in the city Sunday. NTCL Chairman and Secretary to the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Md Sirajul Islam presided over the meeting.
NTCL directors -- NH Zahed, chairman, Planters (Bangladesh) Limited, Elias Ahmed, managing director, Sadharan Bima Corporation, Md Ziaul Haque Khondker, managing director, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), Mohammad Ali Patwary, joint secretary, Ministry of Commerce, and Begum Razia Begum, joint secretary, Ministry of Finance along with Shamsuddin Ahmed Choudhury, NTCL managing director -- were also present in the meeting.
In the AGM, Saieed Bakth Mozumder was elected NTCL director uncontested from among the "A"-class shareholders of the company, whereas Md Ziaul Haque Khonkder and Mohammad Ali Patwary were re-nominated as directors from among the "B"-class shareholders of the company.
In the meeting, the shareholders discussed and reviewed the activities of the company including its development programmes, and also approved the audited accounts for 2006.
