National TT meet to begin in Gopalganj tomorrow

The Southeast Bank 35th National Senior Table Tennis (TT)  Championship-2015 will begin tomorrow (Monday) at the swimming pool and gymnasium of Gopalganj District Sports Association, reports UNB.
Secretary of National Sports Council Shibnath Roy will inaugurate the five- day meet in the afternoon to be organised by Gopalganj DSA under the auspices of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF).
A total of 240 paddlers, including 60 women, from 26 districts and four divisions are expected to compete in the five events-men's team, women's team, men's singles, women's singles and mixed doubles.
BTTF Senior Vice-president Mohammad Jahangir Alam disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Wooden Floor gymnasium in the city Saturday.
BTTF general secretary Khandakar Hasan Munir, general secretary of hosts Gopalganj DSA BM Saif (B Mollah), BTTF Treasurer Tajuddin Pappu and BTTF member cum media committee secretary Ahsan Ahmed Amit also spoke on the occasion.
Of the total budget of Tk 0.85 million, meet's sponsor Southeast Bank Limited is providing Tk 0.75 million to run the meet.
Gopalganj DSA, which is going to host the prestigious national championship for the 2nd time after successful holding of national swimming championship last year, will provide accommodation to the players and officials while the Tournament Committee will pay TA/DA.
In the last meet, Rajshahi Division emerged team event champions, Ansar & VDP finished runners-up; Manash Chowdhury emerged men's singles champion, Imran Hossain Hridoy became runner-up, Moumita Rumi clinched women's singles crown while Rahima Akhter finished runner-up.
