Nat'l Agriculture Day observed in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Nov 16: National Agriculture Day was observed in the district Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Syad Mohammad Hashim inaugurated the function by planting Amon Paddy at the DC office area in the morning.
The day was observed with colourful procession which started from DC office with banners, festoons and agriculture inputs and ended at Joypurhat Sahid Dr Abul Kashem Moidan with a discussion on the day.
Later ADC (General) Monjur Hassan Bhuiyan spoke at the discussion as the chief guest, while Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Deputy Director Abul Kalam Mondol was present as the special guest with Upazila Agriculture Officer Nuruzzaman Sarkar in the chair.
After the discussion, the indigenous people of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila presented their own cultural show which included stick play, ha-du-du, songs and group dance.
Local farmers, NGO members, government officials, journalists and a number of people took part in the programme.
