The government Tuesday launched a project to bring all the administrative bodies including ministries, departments, district and upazila level offices under high-speed infra network to gear up its regular functioning.
Under the project styled 'National Backbone Network of Bangladesh Government', some 58 ministries, 227 departments, 64 district and 64 upazila offices will be brought under infra network, said a press release issued by the ICT ministry.
State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique formally launched the project at a city hotel as the chief guest. State minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and secretary Shaymsundar Sikdar, among others, were present at the inaugural function.
Ms Sadique said it's a big achievement of the government as establishment of infra network will help ensure transparency and efficiency in the public administration.
Junior minister Mr Palak said they have already started the process to bring all the upazila offices under digital network by the end of this calendar year for stronger e-governance.
