Nat'l Boxing advances to semifinal stage

The South East Bank 26th National Senior Boxing Championship advanced to the semifinal stages on the 2nd day of the four-day competition at the Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium in the city Thursday, reports UNB.
Semifinals of all the eleven weight categories will be held today (Friday) and the final matches billed for Saturday.
Tipu Sultan of Bangladesh Ansar, Al Amin of Rajshahi DSA, Mizanur Rahman of Army and Billal Hossain of Dinajpur moved into the semifinals of 48 kg weight while Moshiur Rahman Kajal of Ansar, Asaduzzaman of Jessore Moin Smriti Sangsad, Sujon Ali of Chuadanga reached the semifinal of 51 kg weight.
In the 54 kg, Duad Hossain of Ansar, Riad Hossain of BKSP and Mohibullah of Bangladesh Rifles booked seat for the last four stages while Mohammad Ali of Rifles, Hossain Ali of BKSP and Arif Hossain of Ansar confirmed the semi-final berth in 57kg weight.
In the 60 kg, Biplob of Rajshahi Motin Smriti Sangsad moved in the semifinal.
Champions, runners-up and the 3rd place winning boxers of all the eleven weight categories will be given prize money of Tk.6,000, Tk 4,000 and Tk 2,000 respectively.
A total of 150 boxers including SA Games gold medalists Jewel Ahmed Jonny and Abdur Rahim are taking part in the eleven weight categories
competition.
