Nat\\\'l Disaster Preparedness Day today

The National Disaster Preparedness Day 2014 is being observed across the country both at government and non-government levels today (Thursday) with a view to raising awareness among people about natural calamities. This year’s theme of the day is ‘Disaster has no timetable; we’ll remain prepared all the time’. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, different other non-governmental organisations and social organisations have chalked out various programmes to mark the day. Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion. In his message, Abdul Hamid appreciated the initiative to observe the day and wished all the programmes to be arranged on the occasion a success. Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said her government is always ready to build a safe and disaster-tolerable nation for the country’s future generation through incorporating disaster risks reduction programmes in all development activities, according to UNB.
