Nat'l footballers begin training at Cox's Bazar sea beach

COX'S BAZAR, Sept 8 (UNB): Bangladesh national football team began their month-long residential training camp at the world's longest natural sea beach Saturday morning to prepare for three upcoming international soccer meets.
Bangladesh team's Indian coach Syed Nayeemuddin, who arrived in the capital Saturday morning from Kolkata, is due to leave for Cox's Bazar later in the night to join the national team.
Earlier, on Friday evening, general secretary of Cox's Bazar District Sports Association Abdul Khaleque received the Bangladesh football team with bouquet soon after their arrival here.
Local coach Hasanuzzaman Bablu and Syed Golam Jilani conducted the day's training in the absence of national football coach Syed Nayeemuddim, who is expected to take charge of the national booters from today (Sunday).
Coordinator of Bangladesh team and BFF member Amirul Islam Babu informed that they would continue the training daily in two sessions -- at sea beach in the morning and at Cox's Bazar district stadium in the afternoon.
Of the 33-member preliminary squad, five players -- defenders Rajani Kanta Barman and Firoz Mahmud Tito and medios Motiur Rahman Munna, Abul Hossain and Mehdi Hasan Ujjal -- failed to join the training on the inaugural day today as they did not accompany the team Friday.
Bangladesh will take part in the FIFA World Cup qualifying round, in the third Grand Royal Challenge Cup (Under-23) to be held in Myanmar November 1-7 and the SAFF Championship co- hosted by Sri Lanka and Maldives in December next.
