Wednesday, 25 June 2014
Prime Minister's Advisor on information and communication technology (ICT) Sajib Wazed Joy has said that a national healthcare database is being built to ensure healthcare for all soon. He said this while speaking at a seminar titled ‘Highlights of e and m-health programmes’ at a local hotel on Tuesday. The seminar was organised by the MIS Division of the Health Directorate as part of a South Asian regional informatics conference. ‘Every citizen of Bangladesh has a ID card. A 10-year health card would be given to them based on these ID cards,’ Joy said. ‘At the same time, steps were on to intercept possible abuse of the data and a strong cyber security network was being prepared for it,’ Joy said. Besides one could also use the data base to recover one’s lost ID,’ Joy, also the son of Prime Minister Sheikh hasina, said. All offices in Bangladesh would be digitized by 2021, he said, adding ‘We are half way to it and the rest of the path would have to be covered, too,’ according to BSS.
