Nat'l ID card distribution starts in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Aug 28 (BSS): National Identity Card (NIC) was distributed at a simple ceremony at the conference hall of Circuit House here Tuesday.
Commander of 93 Armoured Brigade of Bangladesh Army AKM Mahfuzul Haque, who is coordinating the preparation of the voter list with photographs and NICs in Rajshahi, Chapainawabgonj and Naogaon districts, inaugurated the distribution of NICs as the chief guest.
After handing over NICs among some of the citizens, the chief guest handed over 2335 cards to Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Khalilur Rahman for distribution of cards to the concerned people.
Officials said 67 per cent works of voter listing and NIC have so far been completed in 15 working days since August 11 last and the total voter registration works would be completed in the RCC area by September 6 next.
Bangladesh Army has been extending security, administrative and technological supports to the election commission in this connection.
A total of 908 data collectors, 182 supervisors and 30 assistant registration officers have been working for the purpose.
