Nat\\\'l Mausoleum\\\'s architect Moinul passes away

Syed Moinul Hossain, the man who designed the National Mausoleum, Bangladesh’s homage to its martyrs from 1971, died in a city hospital on Monday. He was 62. The famed architect of National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar, died at 2:35pm at the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute at Mirpur. ‘He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday following a heart attack. He had high blood pressure. He passed away at 2:30pm,’ hospital’s director Abdullah Al Shafi said. Born in 1952 in Munshiganj district, he showed interest to study architecture from boyhood and took admission in Bangladesh university of Engineerign and Technology (BUET) in 1970. Following evaluation of the 57 submissions, the great sculptor’s design for National Martyrs’ Memorial was chosen, according to a news agency.
