Nat\\\'l moon sighting committee meets July 17

The National Moon Sighting Committee will sit on July 17 (Friday) to ascertain the commencement of Holy Shawal month of 1436 Hijri and fix the date of Holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed in Bangladesh on July 18 if the new crescent moon of Shawal is sighted from anywhere in the country on Friday evening. Religious Affairs Minister and Chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee Principal Matiur Rahman will preside over the meeting that will review the news of moon sighting of Shawal, the 10th month in Arabic calendar. The meeting will be held at the Islamic Foundation Conference room in the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Complex.
Anybody having sighted the moon anywhere in Bangladesh on Friday is requested to instantly inform the committee over telephone, fax or any other means.
