Nat'l women's handball reach semi-final stage

Holders BJMC, runners-up Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, Dhaka and Fairdpur DSAs moved into the semi-finals of the Basic Bank 18th National Women's Handball Championship winning their respective matches at the Dhanmondi Women's Sports Complex in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
In the semi-finals tomorrow (Sunday), Bangladesh Ansar & VDP meet Dhaka DSA at 2pm while BJMC face Faridpur DSA at 3:30pm at the same venue.
In the day's first match, Faridpur DSA defeated Magura DSA by 10-6 goals after dominating the first half 5-2. Rosy scored five goals for the winners while Shahanara netted four for the losers.
In the second match, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP dumped Madaripur DSA by 21-5 goals after leading the first half 10-3. Rumi scored six goals for Ansar & VDP while Razia netted three for Madaripur DSA.
In another match, BJMC outplayed Rajshahi DSA by 19-4 goals after leading the first half 10-2. Dalia scored eight goals for the winners while Nishu netted three for the losers.
In the day's last match, Dhaka DSA beat Panchagarh DSA by 13-9 goals after dominating the first session by 8-5. Akherun contributed 12 goals for the winners while Tripti and Shilpi netted three goals each for the losers.
