The Malaysia-bound trawler detained by Navy warship BNS Durjoy in Bay of Bengal with 625 passengers on board was brought to Chittagong on Tuesday evening. It anchored at Bangladesh Navy’s Ready Response Berth jetty in Patenga near Chittagong sea port around 6:40pm. Durjoy intercepted the Myanmar-flagged unauthorised watercraft 135 nautical miles south-west of Saint Martin’s Island in Bangladesh’s territorial water around 9:00am on Monday. Durjoy escorted the engine-driven boat to Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday morning and from there to Chittagong at 6:30pm, the Navy said in a press statement.
