Nazmul Huda for early national poll to solve crisis
FE Report | Tuesday, 17 February 2015
Chairman of Bangladesh National Alliance (BNA) Barrister Nazmul Huda demanded Monday holding of national election without any delay for resolving the ongoing political crisis.
"I, (Nazmul Huda) called for dialogue in 2011 for resolving the political crisis. But it did not get any response. The country is now in a crossroad. Now there is no time for dialogue. Election should be held now," he said as the chief guest at the national convention of BNA which is comprised of 29 parties at the Institution of Engineers at Ramna in the capital on the day.
"We demand national elections as early as possible by updating the voters list. And before that the Election Commission (EC) should be strengthened," he said.
Mr Huda who deserted Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) recently said the nation could not wait for an indefinite period for the dialogue between Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
