Nazrul Jayanti celebrations begin in Panchagarh

RANGPUR, May 24 (BSS): Two-day celebrations of the 112th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam began in Panchagarh today through various programmes chalked out by the district administration. A huge colourful rally led by Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Banamali Bhowmick and participated by hundreds of students, teachers, educationists, officials, employees, socio-cultural activists and elite paraded the streets in the morning today. Later, several events including competitions on drawing, group-based recitations on Nazrul poems and songs were held at Panchagarh Government auditorium on the inaugural day today. Jahir Uddin Government Public Library has arranged a two-day book fair displaying the books written Kazi Nazrul Islam in observance of the 112th Nazrul Joyanti on Panchgarh Government auditorium premises from today. The celebrations will end Wednesday through competitions on Hamd and Nat, literary works of Nazrul, rendering Nazrul songs, staging of drama 'Bidrohi Nazrul', discussion meeting on Nazrul and prize distributions.
