Slain Narayanganj City Corporatopm (NCC) Councillor Nazrul Islam’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam has filed a general diary with Siddhirganj Police Station claiming he was receiving death threats. He lodged the complaint on Tuesday night seeking security, Siddhirganj thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Monir Hossain has said. Shahidul in the GD said three people including nephews – ‘Nazrul’ and ‘Monir’ – of Abdul Matin Master, former president of Jatiya Sramik League central committee, were threatening to gun him down. SI Monir said they were investigating his allegations. Locals said Matin Master’s son Ariful Haque Hasan was close to Nur Hossain, the absconding prime accused in the 7-murder case. Siddhirganj Covered Van Owners Association chief Ariful had two licensed firearms. But the district administration revoked the licences along with those for the arms owned by Nur Hossain. Shahidul Islam is the one who first alleged that Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) officials were involved in the abduction and murder of 7 people including NCC panel Mayor Nazrul islam and senior lawyer Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarkar on April 27. After that, he recently had said that he was receiving threats from the elite force, according to bdnews24.com.
