NBR boss asks new hires to better serve taxpayers

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed more than 600 newly appointed assistant revenue officers to provide better services to the taxpayers.
The NBR chairman Ghulam Hussain gave the directive to the new officers under its Value Added Tax (VAT) and customs and excise wing, at a meeting in the city officers' club Sunday.
The NBR chairman, also Secretary to the Internal Resources Division (IRD), asked the officials to work as facilitator of 'Service providing organisation'.
He urged the officials to acquire update knowledge, maintain transparency and accountability in work.
Customs member Md Farid Uddin, income tax member Md Basir Uddin Ahmed, customs bond and IT member Md Nasir Uddin, VAT (implementation and IT) member Md Feroz Shah Alam, customs intelligence and board administration member Sultan Md Iqbal, VAT policy member Barrister Md Jahangir, among others, attended the programme.
VAT and customs administration member Hussain Ahmed presided over the meeting.
