Monday, 19 March 2018

National Board of Revenue (NBR) has sought proposals from individuals, trade bodies, organisations and establishments to make its revenue mobilisation policy more effective, reports BSS.
It is a part of its move to formulate national budget for the next fiscal year (2018-19).
The revenue authorities in a notice Sunday requested the organisations concerned to submit their proposals in written to the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) by March 21.
It has also requested the chambers and associations to send a softcopy of their proposals to the NBR's email ([email protected]).
The establishments, organisations and offices which are not members of any chamber or association can send their budget proposals to the NBR through this email.
"The NBR is interested to prepare the budget through discussion for making its revenue mobilisation efforts more effective, descriptive and participatory for the next fiscal year," the NBR said in the notice signed by its chief budget coordinator Mohammad Lutfar Rahman.
He said the BNR prepares revenue policy for revenue collection and budget formulation.
As part of it, the NBR seeks budget proposals from taxpayers, trade bodies, professional organisations, research organisations and intellectuals and holds discussion with them aiming to make the budget participatory and people-oriented one, he added.
Rahman said Finance Minister AMA Muhith has already started pre-budget talks with economists and researchers and the NBR has also started preparing the next budget.
Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) and NBR chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the NBR has been working to prepare a balanced and business friendly budget through discussion with taxpayers.
Like previous years, the NBR will start pre-budget talks with all stakeholders soon, he added.
