NBR observes National Income Tax Day today

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will observe the National Income Tax Day 2009 today (Tuesday) in its bid to encourage the tax-payers.
The NBR will award certificate to the 350 highest and long-term taxpayers of 2008-09 fiscal year from six city corporations and 64 district town on the occasion at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
It has selected three highest taxpayers and two long-term taxpayers from each city corporation and district towns.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister Mashiur Rahman will be present as the chief guest and the special guest respectively on the occasion .
On this occasion a procession will be brought out today from the NBR in the morning.
This is the second consecutive year of celebration of the day arranged by NBR.
NBR hopes that such awareness and motivation will help reduce the tax-GDP ratio which still remains less than 10 per cent in the country.
