NBR realises Tk 170m in washing untaxed money

SYLHET, Aug 2 (UNB): National Board of Revenue (NBR) has realised Tk 170 million (17 crore) in revenue in the district by whitening undisclosed income of Tk 970 million (97 crore) here until July 31.
NBR officials said 460 people have whitened their money during the period, availing the opportunity of the tax amnesty the revenue authority offered since June 4.
Joint Commissioner of Taxes here SBM Rafiqunnabi expressed his satisfaction at the response from the tax-payers and expected that the response would be much better during the extended period of two months.
"I hope, the people here will take the opportunity of the extended period," he said.
