NBR seeks addl Tk 8.14b for next FY

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has sought an additional allocation of Tk 8.14 billion for the forthcoming fiscal year (FY), officials said.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has fixed an allocation of over Tk 18.63 billion for different agencies of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) for the FY 2015-16 under the Medium Term Expenditure (MTE).
NBR Chairman Md Nazibur Rahman recently sent a letter to the senior secretary of the finance division of the MoF seeking the fund.
In the letter the NBR chairman said some Tk 26.77 billion is required against the allocated Tk 18.63 billion for the next FY under MTE.
Recruitment is going on in different agencies under the NBR as part of administrative reforms and re-structural programmes. Different automation projects of NBR are currently being implemented. Besides, a good number of projects are also going on. In this context, the additional allocation is needed for the authority, a competent source said.
Besides, the state authority has also sought an extra Tk 200 million in revised budget of the current FY, 2014-15, aiming to complete unfinished projects of different agencies under IRD.
