NBR urged to raise taxes on tobacco

The Health Ministry has suggested the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to increase taxes on tobacco and tobacco products in the national budget for fiscal 2014-2015. “I would like to request the Finance Minister through the NBR to enhance taxes as much as possible,” Health Minister Mohammad Nasim told a press briefing at the Secretariat ahead of the World No Tobacco Day. He, however, said the Health Ministry did not suggest any specific tax rate for tobacco and tobacco products, according to a news agency.
