NCC Bank has rekindled 'Gazir Pat and Gazir Gaan', an almost forgotten past of Bengali culture in a TV commercial produced to communicate with the mass people.
Gazir Pat & Gaan is one of Bengal's ancient genre of folk art and music which dates back to 7th century, said a press release.
Various incidents of the life of Gazi Pir were depicted on the Pat and the story is narrated by Gazir Gaan.
"However, this sort of entertainment has almost died out due to onslaughts of modern entertainment. Nowadays it is hard to find out the Gazir Pats and the melody of Gazir Gaan except on few occasions. Some pats are preserved in Ashutosh Museum (Kolkata), Guru Shodoy Dat Shangraha (Kolkata), Lokoshilpa Museum of Sonargaon (Narayanganj), Bangla Academy ( Dhaka)," the NCC Bank said in a statement.
"NCC Bank is proud to illustrate this heritage of our country considering it as corporate social responsibility," the statement added.
BBDO Bangladesh conceptualized and supervised the commercial, while Mr. Mahmudul Islam of Kino Films directed.
