Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) on Monday decided to write to the LGRD Ministry to remove Nur Hossain, prime accused in the sensational 7-murder case, and his nephew Shahjalal Badal as counsillor. The decision was taken at the monthly NCC meeting held at the Nagar Bhaban with Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in the chair. Meeting sources said the two councillors remained absent from the monthly meeting for the 4th time on the trot. The meeting also decided to write to the ministry to take action regarding councillor Ali Ahammad who has been paralysed since long. As per the relevant laws, if a city councillor remains absent from meeting for the 3rd consecutive time without any reasonable grounds, he/she could be removed from the post. Ward-4 councillor Nur Hossain and his nephew Badal, the councillor from Ward-3, went into hiding after the abduction and killings of 7 people, including NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker, on April 27. Nur was later arrested in India, according to a news agency.
