NCCC takes new initiative for better cancer treatment

National Cancer Control Council (NCCC) has decided to take a new initiative to improve the treatment facilities for cancer patients, reports BSS.
Under the initiative, the Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital in Dhaka in cooperation with the Directorate General of Health Services will collect necessary data from government and non-government institutes and hospitals all over the country engaged in cancer treatment.
The decision was taken at a meeting Monday with NCCC Chairperson Adviser for Health and Family Welfare Dr AMM Shawkat Ali in the chair.
According to the NCCC decision, an action plan would be made by September this year to reduce the prevalence rate of cancer in Bangladesh.
One uniform form will be supplied to each government and non- government hospital and cancer treatment centre to keep and maintain all data of cancer diseases and cancer patients properly. The NCCC also decided in principle to run MSC in Medical Physics course under Dhaka University and create posts of Medical Physicists in different medical college hospitals.
Health and Family Welfare Secretary AKM Zafar Ullah Khan, director general of Health Services Professor Dr MA Faiz, director of National Cancer Institute and Hospital Professor Dr AMM Shariful Alam were present at the meeting.
