NCP candidate Adib comes under attack

An incident of attack took place on Ariful Islam Adib, National Citizen Party (NCP)-nominated candidate for Dhaka-18 constituency, on Monday morning while he was conducting his election campaign.
According to the police station concerned, two activists of the NCP, which belongs to the Jamaat-e-Islami 11 -party alliance, were also injured in the attack.
Sources said Ariful Islam Adib came under the attack when he went to visit an orphanage and conduct election campaign in Dumni Nurpara area at
Khilkhet in the capital.
In a press release sent to the media in the afternoon, NCP condemned and protested the attack, alleging that local BNP leaders and activists were involved in the incident.
Ariful Islam, the candidate for Dhaka-18 constituency, is the senior joint convener of NCP's central committee and the convener of the party's Dhaka metropolitan north unit.
The statement issued by the NCP's Central Election Steering Committee alleged that a group of miscreants led by local BNP leader Didar Molla carried out the attack.
NCP has demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Mojibur Rahman Manju, strongly condemned and protested the attack.
