NEC okays Tk 28.87b projects

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved 8 development projects involving more than Tk 28.872 billion (2,887.28 crore). The projects include a Tk 1.65 billion (165cr) project to strengthen road safety across the country through improving some countrywide 144 accident-prone or black spots on national highways. The approval came from the Ecnec meeting held at the NEC conference room at city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with Ecnec chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said ‘Of the total project cost, Tk 13.834b will come from the national exchequer while Tk 67.1 million from the organisation’s own fund and Tk 14.97b in project assistance,’ he said, according to UNB.
