Need for migration to Basel II stressed

Managing Director (MD) of BASIC Bank Ltd AH Ekbal Hossain has stressed the need for migration to Basel II to face future challenges and to uphold international best practices.
He has also asked the officials to gain appropriate knowledge of Basel II for practice and to disseminate the same among other employees of the bank.
The MD was speaking as the chief guest at a workshop titled 'Implementation of Basel II' organised by the BASIC Bank Training Institute in the city recently, said a press release.
Basel II provides banks with a unique opportunity to modernise and upgrade their overall risk practices and risk infrastructure, he added.
General managers and divisional heads of the bank's head office and some branch managers based in the capital city attended the workshop.
Md Mosaddiqur Rahman, deputy managing director, was also present at the workshop.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Naba Gopal Banik and Deputy General Manager KM Abdul Wadud conducted the workshop as resource persons.
