Need for more breastfeeding corners

Breastfeeding is vital to children's lifelong good health and well-being. So, it is advisable to have a more caring, safer and conducive environment for breastfeeding. According to section 98 (1) of the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, in every establishment where 40 or more people are employed, workers shall be provided with suitable room or rooms so that mothers can attend, feed, and take care of their children (under the age of six). But the reality is 70 per cent of the workplaces reportedly do not have breastfeeding corners. This indicates that infants are deprived of mother's milk. In this situation, the World Breastfeeding Week, an annual celebration is held every year from August 1 to 7 in Bangladesh and more than 120 other countries.
The number of working women is increasing in the country. However, we have not yet been able to arrange breastfeeding corners for the working mothers' children in workplaces. If we want to see our next generation happy, prosperous, healthy, strong, and meritorious, we now must invest in day-care centres and breastfeeding corners in public places.
