Need for setting up cottage, medium industries for development stressed

GAIBANDHA, Nov 20 (BSS): Speakers at a meeting stressed the need for the establishment of small and cottage industries including medium industries in the district aimed at creating employment opportunities for poverty alleviation and the overall development of the country.
A views exchange meeting jointly organised by district administration and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) was held with the industrial entrepreneurs, Shilpa and Banik Samity, NASIB, and the officials of different banks at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) here Monday.
Additional Secretary and Chairman of BSCIC Mohammad Mohbub- or-Rahman was the Chief guest and Director of BSCIC Engineer Rafiqul Islam was present as the special guest.
Presided over by DC Quazi Md. Anwarul Hakim, it was also addressed, among others, by President of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Shahjada Anwarul Quadir, DGM of RAKUB Abdul Halim, AGM of BSCIC Industrial State, Gaibandha Altaf Hossain, AGM of Janata Bank M. Khalilur Rahman, AGM of Agrani Bank M. Hafizur Rahman and Manager of Islamic Bank Bangladesh LTD, Gaibandha branch M. Zahangir Alam.
