Need for training to make skilled manpower stressed

Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Zafar Osman has stressed the need for training to make efficient manpower for the country's corporate houses.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a training course titled 'Proper L/C (Letter of Credit) Procedures for Export and Import Operations' organised by the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) in the city Monday.
Zafar Osman said : "Considering the competitiveness in the global market our main aims are to reduce lead-time, avoid unwanted hassle and know domestic and international procedures of L/C and administration. That is why, we need skilled, efficient and trained manpower.''
He told the participants of the training course that even a little negligence on the part of a company might lead to a good deal of causalities for their business.
He urged the participants to disseminate ideas and knowledge they had gained through the training course among their colleagues to enhance their skills to the competitive edge.
Zafar Osman briefed the participants on training and human resource development activities of the DBI.
He also patiently listened to the participants and said that the DCCI would consider their suggestions in planning future training programmes of the DBI.
The course aimed at familiarising different topics like L/C operation and settlement mechanism, different types of L/Cs and obligations to different parties involved in L/C, advising and confirming export L/Cs, back to back L/C, exercise on back to back L/C, etc.
A good number 'participants attended the training course.
