Need for uniting, not further dividing, the nation

Sunday, 10 April 2011

After forty years of independence, the country is getting sharply divided on different issues, many of which do hardly have any relevance to to-day's realities. A nation suffering from disunity, dissension and sharp division can never be at peace with itself nor can it deliver its best. Its progress in different areas, including the vital economic ones, gets held up in such an acrimonious- and hate-filled environment, causing instability, conflict and chaos. On the other pole, a united nation can be much more strong and productive. Our leaders need to deeply consider such aspects. Dispensing only partial justice will not do for the concept of justice is an indivisible one. It must also be admitted that a nation cannot live permanently in history. While it needs to take hard lessons, and draw inspiration, from history, it must also look forward to help resolve the issues of pressing concern in to-day's context and, thus, make efforts for sustained growth.
