Need to improve quality of products emphasised

Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam Thursday stressed the need for improvement of quality of products, as domestic products cannot be protected for long through trade barriers, reports UNB.
"We've to improve our efficiency to compete in the world market."
Mirza Azizul Islam made the observation while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the three-day 'Japan Trade Fair-2007' organised by Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) in association with the Japanese embassy and Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in the city Thursday.
Japan-Bangladesh Joint Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation (JBCCEC) Chairman Koji Nojima, Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh Masayuki Inoue and FBCCI President Mir Nasir Hossain attended the function as the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Mirza Azizul Islam stated that the government formulated an import policy suitable for trade liberalisation and also rationalised the duty structure.
He also said the government is giving infrastructural support to the exporters and importers.
