Need to pay VAT, income tax on time stressed

Director of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) KMH Shahidul Haque has stressed the need to pay VAT (value added tax) and income tax on time to keep records for national development.
He was speaking at a certificate awarding ceremony of a training course titled 'Rules and Procedures of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax', organised by the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) in the city Wednesday.
Haque urged the participants to use and disseminate the ideas and knowledge gained through the training course among their colleagues and management for enhancing skills.
He advised the participants in the training course to start a business by opening a tax file first, said a press release.
He said the business executives are the boundary wall for the business owners so it is their duty to protect business from any danger.
He asked the participants to take part in the training programmes of DBI designed for development of business executives and entrepreneurs.
The participants said the training course was very useful and urged the DCCI to organise such courses in future.
Deputy Secretary (Training) Md Jawadur Rahman Chowdhury was present during the programme.
The course on VAT and Income Tax aimed at familiarising following topics: Introduction to VAT and salary tax systems in Bangladesh; Registration and record keeping procedures of VAT; Calculation of VAT (valuation); Credit mechanism of VAT system; Return submission and demand, Fine and penalty for non-payment of VAT, Salary tax assessment, Company tax assessment, Submission of tax returns, etc.
