Needs of ICT infrastructure

Tuesday, 1 September 2020

The world sees a paradigm shift and so does Bangladesh. Because of social distancing and other health protocols to prevent coronavirus spread, there has been a sudden boom in information and communications technology (ICT). The Covid-19 has created a massive demand for ICT-enabled services since more people have to carry out their works, hold meetings, join classes and do shopping by using online platforms.
This has also provided enormous opportunities to many at a time when most people are in crisis. Those who do not afford to buy ICT services cannot benefit from the new opportunities and are deprived of some essential services. In such a situation, we need to reach ICT-enabled services at the doorstep of most people apart from offering cost-effective solutions to new challenges.
It is also important that problems of or scarcity in ICT infrastructures are solved all over the country. We will not be able to become prosperous keeping wide the rural-urban digital divide. All people of the country also deserve equitable opportunities for their wellbeing.
