Neglected mufassil journalists
Thursday, 2 August 2007
THE role of the neglected mufassil journalists is most noble in their respective places and also in our country. But they are facing much difficulties in discharging their performances greatly towards their respective newspapers.
Most of the authorities of the national dailies, both in Bengali and English, fail to deliver their appointment letters, remunerations and also identity cards. Those who are getting identity cards only, in absence of the remunerations, are performing their noble duties at their own expenses. They send news which are being published in the newspapers. They cover the news at their own expenses.
It is a bad taste for the newspaper owners in a democratic country like ours, born at the cost of a sea of holy bloods of the martyrs. However, the measures for augmenting the flow of revenue earnings for the newspapers do also merit here attention because without having sufficient financial resources, no newspaper will be able to foot the bill for such expenses.
The profession of journalism is one of the riskiest ones, no doubt. The journalists are flashing the news, problems and other events as the voice of the people of their localities.
The past governments failed to fulfil their said problems in our country. It is now a unique opportunity to help these neglected mufassil journalists giving them the minimum required facilities for discharging their professional responsibilities and, thus, paving the way for equipping them properly.
All concerned are earnestly requested to look into the said matter seriously soon, to ensure a bright future to the neglected mufassil journalists in our country.
