Nepal blank Afghanistan

Nepal tasted their first win in the Bangabandhu 6th SAFF Championship beating Afghanistan by 3-0 goals in their last group A match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
With this win, Nepal secured four points while all-losers Afghanistan made an early exit from the championship without a point in their name from three matches.
In the day's match, Anil Gurung struck twice-in the 56th and 57th minutes, Bijay Gurung scored the other goal for the winners in the 74th minute. The match was locked goalless during the first half.
Earlier, Nepal forced holders Maldvives to a 1-1 draw in the opening group match while it lost 0-1 to strong India in the second group match. Afghanistan lost to India by a solitary goal in the opener and 1-3 to Maldives in the second group match.
