Nepal to continue receiving military training from BD

Nepal has expressed its interest to continue training courses in future for their army personnel at the international standard training military institutes of Bangladesh, report agencies.
Visiting Nepalese Army chief General Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana conveyed the desire when he made a courtesy call on Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina at her Tejgaon office in the city Wednesday.
Briefing the newsmen after the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri said the Nepalese Army chief has extended the best wishes of the Nepalese President and the Prime Minister to Sheikh Hasina while the Bangladesh PM also reciprocated.
PM's Press Secretary said Nepalese army chief informed the PM of his country's plan to have a joint expedition with Bangladesh to Mount Everest next year.
Sheikh Hasina recalled the role of Nepalese people particularly of the incumbent Prime Minister Sushil Koirala in Bangladesh's War of Liberation and extending support to the Freedom Fighters with supplying arms and ammunitions.
Sheikh Hasina laid importance on good relations, joint exercises and regular meetings of the top army officials to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in pursuit of peace and security of the region.
General Rana praised the visionary leadership of Sheikh Hasina saying Bangladesh's advancement under her leadership is wonderful. "Bangladesh would go far ahead under her dynamic guidance," he hoped.
The PM underlined the importance of regional connectivity for development. She said, Transit facility with Nepal is very crucial for road connectivity between Bangladesh and Nepal. India is responding very positively to address the issue."
General Gaurav said the Nepalese Army has benefited immensely after taking training from the institutes like National Defence College and Defence Services Command and Staff College of Bangladesh as some 215 Nepalese army officials have so far received training from these institutions.
He said they want to continue to utilise such training facility from Bangladesh for the Nepalese Army officials since the training is of international standard.
Nepalese Ambassador in Bangladesh Hari Kumar Shrestha and Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh Lt General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and PMO Secretary Suriya Begum were present on the occasion.
