KATHMANDU, Sept. 23 (Xinhua): Nepali Foreign Affairs Minister Sujata Koirala, on a tour for UN meetings, is to urge the United States to scrap garment quota system when talking with the US officials, state-run daily The Rising Nepal reported on Monday.
"We will discuss with concerned bodies in the Washington DC on removing quota system imposed on the import of Nepal's readymade garments," Sujata Koirala said.
The minister said on Sunday that the Nepal's relations with its immediate neighbors, European nations and the United States had gradually deepened through its economic diplomacy.
Koirala made such remarks while talking to media people at a press meeting before leaving for New York to take part in the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He said the talks would be held with American officials on bilateral relations and mutual interest of the two friendly nations.
"Mainly, we are discussing about climate change, food scarcity and other burning global issues during the United Nations General Assembly," she said.
