Nepal's overseas jobs jump up by 12.5pc

KATHMANDU, Aug 2 (Xinhua): The number of Nepali workers leaving for overseas jobs jumped up by 12.5 per cent during the fiscal year 2006/07 ended in mid-July, compared with the previous fiscal year, The Kathmandu Post reported today.
Data compiled by department of labour and employment promotion (DoLEP) shows that the number of Nepali blue-collar workers landing in 19 different countries reached 199,191 in the last fiscal year. It was recorded at 177,066 a year earlier.
Officials attributed the growth as a natural one, with no factors having specific impact on the trend of Nepalis leaving for overseas jobs.
